Standing Strong for Reproductive Justice: A Call to Action from Unity Harbour

 Dear Community,

I'm reaching out to you today with a sense of urgency and a firm resolve to stand up for what's right. Recent events have highlighted the challenges faced by many individuals in our community, particularly those affected by homelessness, anti-LGBTQ legislation, and restrictive abortion regulations. As the president of Unity Harbour, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting those impacted by these dystopian realities, I feel compelled to speak out and urge us all to come together in solidarity.

Our mission at Unity Harbour is clear: to provide assistance and support to individuals facing adversity, regardless of their background or circumstances. We believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every person, and we are dedicated to promoting equality and access to essential services for all members of our community.

Recent discussions about the potential criminalization of abortion in certain states have deeply troubled me. The idea that individuals seeking reproductive healthcare could face punitive measures, including the death penalty, is not only alarming but also fundamentally unjust. We cannot stand by while our neighbors are denied the right to make decisions about their own bodies and futures.

That's why I'm calling on each and every one of you to join us in our efforts to support reproductive justice and combat these harmful policies. Here's how you can help:

  1. Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about the issues facing our community, including homelessness, anti-LGBTQ legislation, and restrictive abortion regulations. Knowledge is power, and by understanding the challenges we face, we can better advocate for change.

  2. Support Our Work: Consider making a donation or volunteering your time to support Unity Harbour's mission. Your support enables us to provide vital assistance and resources to those in need, helping to alleviate the impact of these harmful policies on our community.

  3. Stand Up and Speak Out: Use your voice to advocate for justice and equality. Write letters to elected officials, attend community meetings, and engage in conversations with your friends and neighbors about the importance of supporting those affected by dystopian legislation.

  4. Foster Solidarity: Reach out to those around you and offer your support and solidarity. Together, we can create a strong and resilient community that stands up for the rights and dignity of all its members.

In times of uncertainty and adversity, it is more important than ever that we come together as a community to support one another. Let us stand united in our commitment to justice, equality, and compassion.

With gratitude and solidarity,

Carmen Broesder President, Unity Harbour
